Information on your pre-education
We need the following documents for diploma validation and admission:
- a copy of your final diploma in the original language
- a copy of your final transcript of records in the original language
- if these documents are not in Dutch, English or German, we also need a certified translation of both documents in English
- please upload all the above mentioned documents as one PDF file
- if you haven't achieved your final diploma yet, it is possibe to already upload your most recent transcript of records over the last three study years. This should include one semester of your final year. We will look into the document to determine if you can be condionally admitted
- please note that in addition to this transcript we always need a copy of the final diploma and the final transcript in the original language (and if applicable a translation) as soon as available to continue the enrolment process.
Please keep in mind that you need to show us the admission documents as a hardcopy or as a certified copy before the start of the study year to complete your enrolment!

Language proficiency
For study programs in English
For all course programmes conducted in the English language, a minimum level of proficiency in the English language is required.
Some applicants may be exempted from submitting language proficiency test results, as follows:
- Applicants who have a diploma of secondary education in a country listed in the diploma list drawn up on behalf of the associates of institutions of higher education, as published on the website of the code of conduct. The diploma must be achieved no longer than 2 years ago.
- Applicants who have followed their secondary education in English might be exempted. This decision is up to the department.
- Applicants who have a Dutch mbo-4, havo or vwo diploma.
Students, who are not fulfilling one of the abovementioned exemption criteria, must submit one of the English language certificates as described on our webpage as part of their enrolment.
Study programs in Dutch
For Dutch study programmes the following language certificate is required:
- Staatsexamen Nederlands als tweede taal (NT2 II)
Additional documents, such as CV and motivational letter
IMPORTANT for non EU students!
It is mandatory for your visa application to submit a CV and a motivational letter. Please upload it as one PDF.
The motivational letter should have been written by you in person in your own words and not have been established by using AI or plagiarism in any form. It should cover at least the following topics:
- describe your current personal situation
- why do you want to study at the given study program
- why do you want to study at Fontys University in Venlo
- why do you think you are a fit candidate for the study program of your choice
- what actions did you take for study orientation
- how will you be funding the tuition fees and the living expenses
- do you already have a plan for living in or around Venlo during your studies
Your CV should at least cover the following topics:
- All activities up until and including this month (education and career related)
- Your marital status
Without this information your application will not be taken into consideration.
An interview may be part of the admission procedure.
